E. L. Anderson’s Stories
About 1969 E. L. (Bud) Anderson became interested in his genealogy when the Banghart book was published. This book traced his mother’s (Anna Banghart’s) line back to Jacob Banghart, who immigrated here to what is now New Jersey from Germany in 1749. E. L. collected information about his grandfather, David Anderson, and his descendents. His method of telling about his father, William O. Anderson, Anna’s husband, was to write his own memories.
E. L. did as I used to instruct my sixth graders, “Write down your thoughts. Worry about spelling, punctuation and grammar later. First, get your thoughts down on paper.” He got his thoughts down on paper but he never went back to work on the punctuation. So his stories are written as though he were talking to us.
When preparing these stories for your enjoyment all I did was insert some punctuation and paragraphs to make them a little easier to read. Enjoy.
