Mead - Jepson House & Mead High School

We found the house in Mead where Peter and Charlotta Jepson lived when they moved off the farm.  It is on Oak Street about a block north of the Alma Lutheran Church.

Some of us approaching the house where Peter Jepson lived when he retired to Mead.

The lady facing us, second from the left, is the current owner of the house. She came out to find out what was going on when she saw this group of people approaching her house.

The empty spot in front of the black car is where a garage used to stand.

Tim Johnson (Peter-Margaret-Sextus-Danny-Tim) is president of the Mead School Board so he let us into the building where several attended high school.  What memories that brought back!!

Luetta, Rosita and Clint confer by the steps to the front entrance to the building

The front entrance of the school opens into this lobby. Straight ahead are the doors to the gym. Turn left or right to enter the hallway around the gym with the classrooms around the outside. The murals have been added since we went to school here. Charley rests on the steps. Doug is looking at one of the center murals.

This is the left entrance to the gym with the other center mural.

This Roll of Honor hangs in the lobby.

Clint, Rosie and Dan confer in the middle of the gym. Ginger is walking toward the stage on the right side. Originally there was a five-foot wall just a foot outside the red side boundary line on each side. Above and behind the wall were three tiers of bleachers. The space below was wasted space. The custodian stored a few things there but otherwise it was empty and unused. The front of the stage originally curved outward so that directly in front of the stage, under the basket, there was no out of bounds space.

Clint, Rosie and Dan are still talking.

Ginger photographs the photographer. Caden and Anders are climbing the steps to the stage.
