Marian L. Anderson

Marian Anderson was born on January 7, 1900, in Colfax County Nebraska to Andrew and Tilda Anderson.  When she was 11 she moved with her family to a farm near North Bend in Dodge County.  When she finished school she became a teacher in schools near her home.  In 1922 she married Marvin Schere at North Bend. Marvin, who was three years older than Marian, farmed the family farm near Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska.

By 1930 they had two children.  Their son, Robert, who was born Sept. 14, 1925. He served in WW II as a Staff Sergeant in the 329th Air Force Bomber Squad. He died on Nov. 29, 1951 at age 26 and was buried in Maple Grove Cemetery about a quarter mile south of Cedar Bluffs.

By 1971 Marvin and Marian had retired and moved into Cedar Bluffs. Marvin died in October 1981. When Marian died at age 96 on August 31, 1996 she was living in the rest home in Wahoo. Both are buried in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Edward (Bud) L. Anderson's photo album contained some snapshots of Marian.  The two were cousins, Marian being the older by five weeks.
